We walked through the park to the War Memorial which we had been to on our last trip and discovered their visitor centre which they didn't have 6 years ago. It was really interesting and there were old soldiers there to talk to. We are so impressed by the way Australia honours their war dead.I only wish Britain could do the same.
We ate our way through Melbourne! The food court at Victoria Market serves the best Butter Chicken ever! And it's cheap! The food court at the Southbank was really impressive with a huge selection of good food. We opted for the Moroccan counter where we ate a delicious Lamb Tagine and meatballs.
Sorry for going on about food but my "back- from- holiday diet" has started so I am a bit obsessed I suppose!!!
We went into the European restaurant one night but there were no Australian wines -just European(surprise!!!)We drink wine from Europe when we're home and wanted to drink Australian so the really nice waiter suggested we go next door to their other premises (also a bottle shop). He showed us to a table in there and we had a great meal with wonderful wine from Western Australia. The food was so good we went back the next night! The service was terrific too.
What else did we do? We walked around St Patricks and the Parliament building, went several times round on the free tram(you won't get that kind of service in Britain!),walked and walked down all the streets from Spring Street to Flinders...just loved it all! We were sad when we had to pick up our hire car and leave Melbourne - but our legs did need a rest! Then it was the Great Ocean Road which was soooo good, but we really needed more time!

That end of town is good and I ate at The European only about 3 weeks ago ,not having been for some years .Lots of good eating in Melbourne and so cheap in terms of quality especially for those exchanging Euros or pounds . Hope you can come back soon .
