Quick and easy ATM question

Do ATMs in Australia accept a four-digit PIN as in the US or a five-digit pin as in Europe?

Thank you in advance!

Uh-oh, nothing is as uncomplicated as it first appears, I guess. I'm just going to assume that our four-digit pin will work!

I never had a problem using my 4 digit pin in Sydney and all around Cairns. They also worked fine with a UK debit card and 4 digit pin. One warning, is that the UK debits would show the amount remaining in the account, however it showed the amount in pounds but used a $ sign instead so it was a bit of a shock until we figured out the difference.

We opened a Bank of America account here in the US before our trip. In Australia we used Westpac ATMs and there was no service charge. We used the 4 digit PIN we arranged in the US>

I live in Aus' and have a Savings account and a Mastercard account with the Commonwealth bank as well as an American Express card. All are 4 digit PIN's. Both the Commonwealth bank accounts are both accepted in other major banks ATM's. eg Westpac Bank, ANZ Bank, National Bank etc. Most other banks will accept them. In Aus' I think most banks automatically give you a 4 number PIN which you can change.
