Port Douglas Apartments

I am looking for an apartment hotel in Port Douglas for 5 nights in August for a family of 5 (3 boys, ages 17, 14 and 10). Any suggestions? I have looked into the Central Plaza, which seems to do really well on Tripadvisor. I am not looking for budget accomodations, but I am also not looking to spend very top dollar. $300 - $350 per night for a two bedroom sounds about right.

Hi,

We`ve stayed at the Port Douglas Outrigger a few years ago with our 2 kids and liked it. It was a convenient location, close to everything and good price. The appartment was very clean; we had a 2 bedroom with kitchen, living room, audry facilities right in the appartment and a salt water pool. You can have a look at http://www.portdouglasoutrigger.com.au/

We stayed at the Verandahs last May, and we thought it was very nice (and a great value, though the rate is escaping me at the moment). We had a two-bedroom apartment with two baths, a full kitchen, laundry, etc. It was very clean and comfortable.

Anyone else? Looking for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom non-smoking apartment. Can spend about $350 per night in August.

Verandahs is nice - just around from main street - out of season great value - not sure of price in high season - nice people that manage as well. Steer clear of Reef Resort - pool is nice though apartments are like dungeons - really dark

We stayed at the At the Mango Tree last August in one of their townhouses. (This was our second stay at this property.) It had 2-bedrooms, one with a queen-sized bed and one with 4 beds (2 singles and a set of bunk beds). There was a full bath upstairs and another toilet downstairs. It had a full kitchen and a laundry with washer and dryer. We also enjoyed the townhouse because it's located at the rear of the property with a rear patio facing a rainforest-like environment. At the Mango Tree is located about 1 1/2 blocks from the beach and an easy 1 km stroll to town. The rate, if I remember correctly, was about A$200 per night.
