Choice between 2 accomodations in Port Douglas
Hello,
I am trying to choose between two accomodations in Port Douglas. My husband and two daughters (ages 18 and 21) and I could stay in a two bedroom beachfront apt at the Mandalay & Shalimar, or a two or three bedroom villa at the Cayman Villas. If you have been to PD and know about these properties, which one would you prefer???? Is either property more upscale than the other? Thank you in advance for any replys!

We stayed in a three bedroom apartment at the Mandalay & Shalimar in November and absolutely loved it! I highly recommend it and I dream of actually living there. The apartments were immaculate, comfortable, quiet, spacious, beautifully decorate and landscaped. The pool was beautiful, clean and uncrowded.
There really aren't any beachfront condos, so no need to pay extra for that. They upgraded us to a beachfront for free. It is only a short walk to the beach, but you cannot see the beach from the apartments, not even the top floor, because of the landscaping.
Both of these properties are reviewed on Trip Advisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...ueensland.html

i know you have booked but we stayed at the mantra aqueous apartments on the corner of macrossan and davidson
such a good location
away from the noisy pub end and yet easy walk even in the heat along macrossan and all the lovely restaurants
we loved mango jam - for pizza-- vegetarian was divine!
the nautilus is hugely expensive and has the best ambience but the food is so gourmet it's a bit alien for a pleb's palette
