OW Bungalows-Sheraton, Moorea

Has anyone stayed in a horizon view overwater bungalow at this resort ? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi DJ,Yes I have, and it's wonderful!<BR>Gorgeous,drop-dead view and crystal clear water with coral and fish everywhere! We got it thru Sheraton with their 35% off Spring Sale. It's offered every year and you end up saving over $200 per night. We had Horizon OW Bungalow #75.We were on the<BR>'sunrise' side. It's heaven!!

We had a deep horizon view room and in my opinion, the horizon view would have been just as good. I have pictures on my website. www.tahiti.wunschl.com

We stayed there for our honeymoon. Loved the villas and Moorea. Loved getting breakfast delivered to the villa, they would set it up on your private balcony outside, just above your sunning deck. Incredible couples vacation.<BR><BR>Theresa

Hi, just came back from Moorea 2 days ago. We spent part of our stay in a garden and part in horizen OW bungalows. They were both lovely. Our view was exceptional. However, my husband and I felt the prices did not warrant the service offered at the resort. Most servers were indifferent and stretched the gamut to absolutely and embarrassingly rude. Please do not misunderstand me, we are from New York City and are not alien to high priced everything and marginal service. But I was so affronted by the woman running th gift shop, that I walked out and felt like crying. I misunderstood a price and asked the lady to remove it from our bill. I apologized to her several times for the inconvenience, but to no avail, things were slammmed in my face and I was talked about in Tahitian to the other worker standing there. Restaurant service was inconsistant at best. Our last evening, we ordered only entrees, they were brought to our table in 5 minutes. No time for wine or chat. Then the serveres never appeared again. My husband had to get up and go to the Manager to get our check. Strange huh?

June,Sorry to hear of the bad service you recieved from the Sheraton Moorea <BR>Resort. There's no reason/excuse for that kind of service. It seem's there have been alot of complaints about the service at the Sheraton Moorea the past year.Too bad.Service seemed fine while we were there in March of 2001.It seems it's been going down hill ever since.<BR>Too bad.Such a gorgeous place with great bungalows and great views.Nothing ruins a place faster than bad service.<BR>I plan on going back next March (2003)<BR>and have to seriously consider wether I should stay at the Sheraton Moorea because of the service issues many people are having there......

Debbie, The new Pearl Beach just opened and everyone is saying that the snorkeling is terrific there. It might be a nice alternative.

We stopped at Pearl Beach Moorea en route to the Ferry. The property is definately a low budget Pearl Beach property. The bungalows did not seem luxurious at all. The restaurant was just a extra floor space with tables/chairs. No Ambiance. We spoke with a couple who stayed there and they were deeply disappointed in their stay. Too bad, considering that the Sheraton is a nicer property but service was so bad, my husband and I would not go back. Why fly 17 hours (from NY) and pay extremely high prices to be mistreated.

Hope our experience with service at the Sheraton will be better than yours as this is where we will be for our stay on Moorea. Too late to change now. Will post a note when we return to say how it went.

DJ- There is a good chance that you will be quite pleased. My husband and I saw a waitress fawning over another table at the restaurant and I heard the man say to the french manager jokingly that he was sick and tired of the excellent service at the resort. You will go and absolutely love the bungalows and the resort setting.. It doesnt get any better. Before my dealings with the woman in the gift shop, we felt the people were efficient and curteous but aloof( do I dare say similiar to the French?) Go and enjoy, you will love it!

To June, Your comment re the French is right on at least in regards to what we experienced in France in the larger cities. In regards to FP, we were there about 7 yrs. ago on a Windstar cruise but did spend a few days on Tahiti beforehand, and found the locals overall to be ok however the most genuinely friendly and pleasant people have to be those in Fiji, especially the Yasawa Islands. Unbelievably wonderful honest folk. Made the trip that much more special. I will let you know how this exxcursion goes. Regards, DJ

Just returned from our trip to FP and spent 3 days at the Pearl Beach and 4 days at the Sheraton Resort. The PB did come across as a more low budget resort and the grounds are not very developed as yet. It doesn't have much ambience at all and the bungalows are lacking in some ammenities. The staff were friendly however and service was good overall. Our next 4 days were spent at the Sheraton in a horizon OWB and this was fabulous. All the necessary ammenities were there. The resort was beautiful and fortunately we did not experience any major problems with service and staff. Most were friendly and responsive in a positive manner. I would definitely stay there again but would pass on the Pearl Beach.
