Melbourne Hotels

I am looking for a good value hotel in Melbourne for my family . 2 adults 2 children aged 13 and 16.
Which areas should I stay away from?
Budget is around AD125-150.
Can anyone recommend somewhere?

Melbourne is a safe city, there are no areas that are particularly dangerous.

King Street between Flinders Street and Collins Street is a nightclub area, as is Flinders lane between Exhibition Street and Swanston Street both areas can have rowdy groups late at night.

If you look at they have a large list of the city hotels, prices, locations and facilities.

You can look into the Oakford chain of suites/apartments. We stayed at an Oakford near Parliament (very close to the subway) and had a small but nice 1 bedroom apt. I believe they have some two bedroom ones also. It was Oakford Towers, I believe.

Another site you can check with is and both of these gave us great last minute rates.

Have a great time and take in their zoo - it's a fantastic zoo!
