I tried $115 yesterday for a 5* hotel and didn't get it. Tried again today and put in $125 and got the Hilton Sydney. I'm very happy with that, but isn't it more of a 4 or 4 1/2 *?
How's the location? Is the 'Quay' area (I've read so much about) within an easy walk? Grocieries? How far is the cruiseship terminal from there?
Thanks so much! You all have been terrific in helping me to set up my mom's trip - only wish I was goin'!

I'm not sure about the stars, it has been recently renovated and certainly the wine bar is fantastic with great food.

The Hilton is not in the Quay area, it's in the CBD, opposite the Queen Victoria Building on George st. Groceries are in easy walking distance: Woolworths at the corner of Park st and George St.

The Overseas Passenger Terminal is probably about a 15 minute walk away at the other end of George St.

Priceline is well known to overinflate the star ratings no matter where you are reserving.

Official star ratings in Australia are set by AAA Tourism, umbrella body for all State auto associations, in the case of Sydney would be NRMA. Think you'll find Hiltons are self-rated, which doesn't mean the star rating for Sydney Hilton is false, its just that there are those who prefer not to deal with AAA for various reasons.

Thanks again, everybody! Is the Hilton in a 'safe' area? I really doubt they'll be out at dark, but you never know.
