holt st Warf Brisbane , to Tangalooma
We arrive in Brisbane too late to pick up the airport shuttle bus and the morning trip to tangalooma. We will be arriving at the international airport and would appreciate some advice a to the best way to get to Holt st warf. We will probably end up having a few hours to waste but will have cases etc with us,wondering what the warf is like.
Thanks for any advice

Juliewood - the Holt Street Wharf is literally right next to the airport. It's probably a 5 to 10 minute taxi ride.
Not sure there's much to do at that wharf. If you have some time, you might go from the airport to Bretts Wharf at Hamilton (about 4 km upstream from Holt St) and ride the CityCat ferry to the Uni of Queensland & back. It takes you up the Brisbane River through the heart of the CBD. The ride will take about an hour each way, is really cheap and hopefully no one would say anything about taking your suitcases on board. When you get back, take a cab to Holt St and be on your way to Tangalooma.

Yes, the wharf is not far from the airport, just a short taxi ride. Tangalooma Resort on Moreton Island is a pleasant holiday resort. We spent a week there about 12 months ago. Make sure you go on the outing to ride down the sand dunes on a piece of masonite, great fun, but lots of walking back up to the sand dune peak. Also go skin diving around the wrecks.
Make sure you take something to reduce the itch from the sandflies.
If you like a quiet laidback island resort, then you should enjoy Tangalooma.

Hi juliewood57,
What time do you arrive at Brisbane airport? As the other guys have said Holt st warf is minutes from the airport.\We have taken the Tangalooma shuttle twice and it has been quite late picking us up on both occasions, 1st time almost an hour late I had to call them to see where they were.
This means you will get the afternoon crossing. But there is nothing much to do at the warf, as its just a river side industrial estate really.
But in answer to your question if the shuttle is not possible a taxi would be the best bet I guess.
Talk to Tangalooma and see what they suggest.
The sand taboggoning is fun but its one hell of a treck up the sand dunes.
Especially if you are unfit like me with a dicky knee.
And do not take your VCR up to the dunes there is no where to hide it away from the sand.
Quad bikes are fun and so is a hire of a small motor boat. If you want to go scuba diving and you have any history of asthma, its up to you but don't tell them.
I haven't had asthma in about 30 yrs and made the mistake of mentioning it when i signed the form. They wouldn't let me do it. I understand their point of view but I just wish I had kept my gob shut.
Best memory was last Christmas day at 8 am after santa had been, sat on the beach cooling off in the sea.
Have fun its a lovely place.
