This may take some research, but I can help you if you have no luck. Anyway, we stayed at a very small (2 room) B&B in Manapouri on S. Island. The owner is a fly fishing guide/instructor. He is from Pennsylvania, his wife is from NZ. Let me know if you have no luck finding him, I will look through my literature, we were there in 2002.

I think Parrothead may be referring to Beechwood Lodge at Manapouri - their site is www.beechwoodlodge.com. You might also want to check out www.flyfishnz.com.

Yes, went to the website, this is the place. The proprieter's are very friendly, they let us check our e-mail from their computer and they dropped us off at the harbor for the overnight cruise on Doubtful, then picked us up the next afternoon. They even let us keep our car in their lot until we returned. This part of NZ was the highlight of our trip.
