Digital Photos in Australia and New Zealand

Hi,

Does anyone know if there are places in Australia and New Zealand where you can download your digital photos to a computer and record a CD-Rom with them to take home so you can free up some space on the camera's memory.
Although I've never done this before I guess that saving some CDs with my pictures could be helpful even if only for the safety of having a backup.
Has anyone tried this out or I'm just a little bit out of my mind?

Thanks,

Riccardo

I can speak for Melb - and the answer is yes. Easy to do at any of the major camera shops. In the CBD, most of them seem to be around Eliz. St. I'm sure it would be the same in all major cities.

I just did exactly what you described in Queenstown this summer. There are heaps of camera places around. Definitely back the card up on CD in case you accidentally erase photos. OR...you can get a 1 gigabyte card like I did and have infinite amounts of space!!! Either way it's very easy to do at a camera shop. It was $10NZ to get the pics downloaded onto CD and then I had them all printed out.

We did this several times on our recent trip, once in Sydney at a computer/appliance store and twice in Port Douglas at a photo shop. Both places needed about an hour to do the job. So it's easy to download photos in the larger towns. But don't count on doing it at remote spots like Ayers Rock or some of the smaller resort islands.

Check out Dimple Shah's Trip Report. Do a search on her name or Trip Report and you'll find it . . . she listed EXACT locations in all the areas she visited.
