Christchurch Hotels after earthquake

Is there a place to get a list of the hotels in Christchurch that are up and running since the recent earthquake. I am going to be there December 23-26th and looking to book online but want to make sure the place is in tact after earthquake.

I'm not aware of any hotels in Christchurch that are not back to full operational strength, travelmack. There is one small private hotel, the Windsor, that suffered some damage, and I'm not sure about that one. If you can't find information online, if you give me the names of those that you are interested in, I will make some enquiries for you.

It's not like the whole city got trashed or anything - my favorite place, the gothic heights motel, reported not even any broken glass, just a scared dog... Besides, if a hotel had some real damage, by Christmas you won't see any traces thereof. Figure out the time difference from where you are and call any hotel you are considering and ask, or let Rob here do the legwork for you since he so kindly offered his help.

The Windsor Hotel B&B on Armagh..on no! That's where I stay. I know they had a big brick chimney. How bad was the damage?

Yep. That's the one mglb. I think it was only chimney and roof damage. I see that they are up and running again, (Oh-oh. Another earthquake as I am typing this. We have had around 1100 in the last three weeks. Enough is enough!) if with some slight restriction on guest numbers or services.

I sympathize, aftershocks are the worst!

Glad to hear that they are up and running. The 'Private Hotel' is probably a vintage sign. They were one of the B&Bs I stayed in on my very first trip to NZ in 1989, and I've probably been there every trip since. Although I have a hunch that the hosts say "Nice to see you again" to everyone.
