Which hotel for shopping in Bangkok
I am going to Bangkok for the 1st time in Dec. There are 3 of us so we will be needing a triple room. Main interest for this trip is shopping. Can anyone help me to decide which hotel or area we should look at? I've heard the Central Chidlom shopping centre is very good. Your recommendation to any 3 or 4 stars hotel in a good location for shopping would be really appreciated. Thank you.

Hi Sinny: just go here.

You can LIVE in a shopping centre. It's perfect for you. Check their rates on the website: there are deals.

Central World is the only mall with a hotel on it. Check out the Patumwan Princess, on top of MBK center.
Central Chidlom is really just a big department store, not a shopping mall. It is on the edge of the central shopping district, Siam Square. The big shopping malls are Central World, Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery and MBK. There are several other small 'boutique' malls in the area as well, so it is the place to stay if you want to shop.
Other hotels in the district are: Grand Hyatt, Arnoma, Novotel Siam Square, Intercontinental and the Holiday Inn. Shop around (if you'll pardon the expression) for the best rates.

I go to Bangkok for the shopping. My current favorite place to stay is the Adelphi Suites on Sukhumvit soi 8. I'm not sure you could get 3 in a studio, but if you got one of the apartments (1-bedroom) you would have space for a rollaway, I'm sure. The couch is long enough for a fairly tall person, but I don't think I'd want to sleep on it every night for any length of time.
I will also be in Bangkok in December... the last couple of weeks of the month is what I am planning.

you might look at the marriott courtyard, which is well positioned for shopping, also the bangkok holiday inn on plenochit and the majestic grande on soi 2 sukhumvit or any of the ones listed above... finding rooms with two beds is difficult....
the serviced apartments might work for you...centre point grande, centre point wireless, adelphi which carol speaks about
