Shopping at MBK in Bangkok

Does anyone know if the jewlery shops in MBK are reliable? I would like to purchase some gold bracelets or necklaces etc. and there appears to be many gold shops at this mall. Can anyone recommend a good place for purchasing 18k or 14k gold? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

i would be very careful in mbk...

i prefer small jewerly shops independantly operated..

we use thai stone jewerly in the nana hotel, soi 4, sukhumvit road....terrible hotel but great shop...old fashioned thai retailing...family run..

they do both custom and ready made work...we have found their quality to be exceptional and prices fair...no bargaining required...woof....we see amporn or mr lee...

they do not have a huge choice in the cases, but get additional stuff quickly if you can describe exactly what you want...

I shopped at Uthai on Soi Lungsuan and have recoed them to others who have been satisfied. Very near Ploenchit BTS. I would NOT buy jewelry at MBK.

One of "the boys" in the group with whom I just traveled bought a number of pieces of jewelry at MBK and seemed to be very happy. I have no idea which shop he used there.

chinatown is a great place for gold...you basically are buying the gold by weight plus a small charge for design, and the items lack any real good design and are fairly rough in appearance and texture....they are very good gold that people buy more for investment rather than for their look...
