Where to stay in Kowloon that has harbour view without the big $$$$
Hi
I'm not sure where to stay in Kowloon. Has anyone stayed at the Harbour Grand?
Any suggestions welcome as to where to stay that has harbour view without the excessive price tag.
Thanks

Try this. We did not stay there but it was recommended and the reviews on this site are very good.http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...Hong_Kong.html

I stayed at the Salisbury YMCA and had a magnificent view of the harbor for about $100 per night (but this was a few years ago). Still, I think it's a great bargain and within walking distance of the Star Ferry and across the street from the Peninsula for high tea (and a Starbucks for good coffee and muffins).

I recommend the Panaroma by Rhombus. It's about 2 blocks behind the Intercontinental in a big tower. The rooms on the top floors (and the roof terrace) have an amazing view of Kowloon. I paid about 180$ per night for a room with a view of the harbour and access to their executive lounge. I'll stay there again next time I'm in Hong Kong.

We stayed at the Salisbury YMCA in March. We paid about $160 USD for a harbor view room. The view was spectacular and the location can't be beat. The room, however, was very much in need of a "makeover" -- the decor, fixtures, etc. looked like a 1970s Holiday Inn.

There are several different properties under the Marco Polo umbrella, all on Canton Road. The one with the best harbor views is the Marco Polo HONG KONG HOTEL. It's an older property but has gone through several renovations. The rooms are spacious and clean, though a little tired. Friendly and helpful service. Excellent breakfast buffet. Really good location (for Kowloon). Downsides are LOTS of tour groups and the old-style smallish windows that get fogged up from the aircon.
You have to specify that you want a harbor view, though. Otherwise, you'll end up looking at an office building.
