One Night in Hong Kong
I will be in Hong Kong one night in mid-August. I will be arriving at the airport at 5pm and don't have to leave until 8am the next morning. With just one evening, what should I see or do in that limited time? I love to shop, sightsee, etc.
Any suggestion you can give me would be very welcome.

Take the airport express to Kowloon station. Find a reasonable accomodations, the YMCA Salisbury is a good option. It's near the harbor and very close to Nathan Road, the main shopping drag. Just little further north on Nathan Rd you also have the Night Market. Between the 2 spots you could shop till you drop. Hundreds of restaurants also. You could also take the Star Ferry across the harbor, which will give you a nice view of both sides. One ticket will allow you to stay on the ferry both ways. I don't think you'll have much more time to do anything else.
The Airport Express takes 22 minutes from Kowloon to the airport. Also when you get to the Kowloon station, take the free bus that will take you to the YMCA Hotel.

Or you can go to Hong Kong Island and take the peak tram to The Peak. Good view from Cafe Deco in the shopping center up there. Little shopping opportunities there, though.
About the Star Ferry... Yes, you can just stay on, and ride it back across the harbor without extra fare. However, make sure you see other passengers getting on the ferry immediately after people getting off. Occassionally, they may put a ferry out of service, and you will end up who-knows-where.

take the star ferry across the water a couple of time...forget shopping with that little amount of time....walk along the waterfront in kowloon...have a drink in the top floor of the peninsula hotel or have dinner at felix up there....make sure you go into the bathrooms and if you are male use the urinals....don't ask why....

I agree with some of the suggestions above. With so little time please forget the shopping just this once.Book into the Salisbury (YMCA), walk the waterfront, get the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island, go up to the Peak (fabulous view of the lights of the whole of Hong Kong). You will have a night to remember!
