Weather in early January
We hear it can be quite cold in Hanoi and Halong bay in early Jan. Is this so? Does anyone know if hoain and hue will be warmer. How warm will it be in the Delta?
When sleeping on Halong Bay, do we bring heavy clothes or nightgown?
Thanks!
Sue

Hi Sue,
Kathies answer was a lilbit short. About Halong Bay| Are you going to sleep outside or in a room? Funny part aside, it can be freezing cold during January in Hanoi as well as in Halong. So better bring warm clothes.
Hue is somewhat better during daytime, but because of its height could be quite cold during night too.
Everything down South after Danang
, i.e. Hoi An
, Nha Trang etc. is absolutely no problem during January, warm and mostly sunny.
And the Mekhong Delta is hot und humid the year over.
Enjoy your trip.

I would also like more information about Halong Bay. I will be in a cabin on a ship (Emeraude). From what I heard from a friend who was there last January, weather in Hanoi is variable..she said she was fine with a light jacket in the daytime. You also need to plan for rain..
I can tell you from experience that Saigon is HOT HOT HOT at that time of the year!
