A silly question. I read somewhere that wearing bright yellow in Thailand is a no no since it is the color of the king and is reserved for celebrations for the Royal Family. Is this true? I have several bright yellow tropical shirts I was planning on packing. I don't wnat to offend especially now. Still planning on going thanks for all the reassurance. Thanks.

Right now there are MANY people in Thailand wearing yellow. it is in the news and still shots of the coup.

we were there a month ago - long before the coup - and EVERYBODY was wearing yellow. Can't see how it would be a problem if you did as well.

The local people are currently wearing a lot of yellow to celebarate the 60th anniversary of the King's ascension to the throne.

There areactually special yellow shirts people buy to celebrate, so you'll be one of many.

any advice given to tourist about wearing cloths in thailand is usually false, especially this one. anyone can wear yollow or just about anything they damn please.
