claudia, now I understand. I have heard others say that the line for taxis can be long, but in all of my transfers in and out of Bangkok, I've never had a problem. I do always use a limo service upon initial arrival as well as either the limo service or a hotel car for that last drive back to the airport. But I've used taxis many times from the airport (arriving from domestic or short-hop international flights) and have never had a problem.

I recently tried to book a pick up through ACC Limo's web site. I put in all our reservation info and then tried to pay by credit card. It said it couldn't process the credit card (I don't know why) but that my reservation was saved and I could pay at the airport. I didn't receive an e-mail confirmation or anything like that. Do you all think they will be there or should I e-mail them to confirm?

LA FadeAway: I would not be concerned about the limo; they'll be there.
However, you might want to verify with your CC bank that it's ok to use your card in Thailand. I have some CCs that do not allow remote use of the card from Thai sites (that is, use is allowed only if I physically present the card), and some cards do not allow the use of the card at certain types of shops (electronics, for example).

AAC really wants to be paid in cash....if you made a res they will be there as riz says....you could just verify with a simple e mail to them..
my experience with thai businesses is that they often don't follow up with a confirming e mail unless you ask for one, which i always do now...
even if they do not have a res for you they have plenty of cars available at the airport and you would be on your way in 5 minutes or less...i prefer the res however for my initial arrival..

LA, make sure you call your credit card company and let them know when you will be out of the country. Also inform your bank that supplies your ATM card. Otherwise, they'll suspect fraud and turn off your card. A couple of years ago when I prepaid some hotel reservations in Asia, the first one went through, but the credit card company stopped the second. I had to call my credit card company to allow the transaction, then notify the online booking site to send the transaction through again.

Thanks for the reassurance everyone. I'm sure they'll be their to get us. I think the problem was with their web site rather than my card, but I'll be calling all my banks before I leave to alert them of my travel plans. I always do that whenever I leave the country.

Just to follow up, I booked online with AAC. They had my flight info and everything. Would not take my credit card over internet and said pay at desk. When I got there I saw no-one. I asked around and no one in terminal seemed to know who they were. I looked at all the booths and could not find them. Just gave up and took a taxi. They said 600 baht. I paid 400 and felt good about it. I was 33 hours since home and did not feel like bargaining too much. When we came back from Phuket and got into Bangkok, I had the limo service from the Oriental booked. I don't care how much it cost, it was wonderful and a well worth it splurge. I think if I had it to do over again, I would definately book the limo from the hotel for my arrival into Thailand and use taxis the rest of the time.

I didn't see their stand and I did look but again I was 33 hours out. I had the reservation paper in my hand and I showed it to some airport people and the truly acted like they had no idea who they were. I was tired and I just wanted to go to my hotel so I took the easy way. I did not want to look anymore. I saw all kind of limo/ taxi/ car stands but none with their name on it. Somewhere in this post it said if you had a res. they would be at the gate exit with a sign, no sign there. Anyway, I had no hard feelings, I was just tired and was tired of looking.
