Thai Air JFK to BKK best fare where?
I'm thinking of flying Thai from JFK to BKK next June 2008. Is it best to book through Thai Air's website? If I book now (next month) and the fare goes down, does Thai credit the difference. Is it better to book early or later for the best fare?
Also, if anyone from New England has taken Thai from NYC how did you get to JFK- limo, rental car one way?

Always best to shop around for airfares but I don't think the price of this flight varies that much. It would be best to check with Thai for their terms and conditions regarding a fare reduction.
Don't know where you are coming from in New England but we drive down from the Hartford area and park at Avistar valet parking reserved in advance over the internet - do a google, but I think its airportdiscountparking.com.
We took the "Limo" once but it was really a bus and it sucked. One way rental car cost should be comparable to driving yourself and parking at Avistar - the downside is that you have to pick up and return the car - requires extra time that we never thought was worth the bother.

Last year we booked this flight as part of a Bos-JFK-BKK flight using Orbitz for $1200. This was slightly cheaper than booking through Thai Air. The connection was on a Com Air flight through Delta. Everything was very smooth and our luggage weight allowance was controlled by the international flight not the domestic limit.

A sales agent at the Thai office here told me that many times the fare listed on the website is full fare. I usually reserve the ticket online, then visit the office to get the better fare. I saved $500 buying my ticket this way.

Thanks for all the responses. We're in RI so I don't know of any Thai Air office near here. I wonder if the fare would be different from the website if I called Thai Air. The other problem is we are going the end of June so I think the fares go up then.
Bob, are you trying to use United miles to fly Thai? I have enough NW miles for 1 ticket, but don't know if I'll be able to get a seat- its not 352 days before yet. I also don't know how much cheaper it would be to fly NW even with 1 free ticket (and we would be stopping in Seattle so rental car and hotel) vs. Thai direct from NYC. Also Thais travel times are much better than NW! If we go on Thai, I think renting a car 1 way and overnight at the airport is the way to go.
Thanks for the GTG invitation. Unfortunately we will be in Chicago that weekend for a wedding.
