Taxi from BKK to Peninsula?

Does anyone know how much and long a taxi ride will be from BKK to the Peninsula Hotel? I'm just trying to decide if we should get the car service through the hotel, but it's $67 one way. Thank you!

Rather than the Pen's car, get a limo at the airport. You can just walk up to the Limo stand (I think there are three limo services at the airport) or you can reserve ahead. It's about 1000 baht or so. Taxis are less, 300-400 baht. This is info from the old airport; depending on when you go, you may be at the new airport.

We paid 720bht for a 'Limo'. Turned out to be a Toyota camry. Paid 300 on return from hotel. Best to wait in line outside for a taxi. Should be 400, plus highway fee. Check out

The new Bangkok Airport is supposed to open near the end of September. Once it is open, all flights will go through there.

In Bangkok, Limos mean simply larger cars - the least expensive Limo is the Toyota Camry. A Volvo costs a bit more, a Mercedes even more.

If you are coming into the new airport, it will be much easier to use a limo rather than a taxi. To use a taxi, you will have to take a shuttle bus to the transportation center while the limos will be right outside the arrivals hall.

Without taking the toll road, it took me an hour and a half. If you want to get there faster, then have the driver take the toll road...like knock off about half an hour... depending on the time of day. Sometimes I don't want to take the toll road since I like to sit back and make notes of places we're driving by on the regular streets and then sometimes I later return back to those streets/areas. Happy Travels!

As far as timing goes, as Guen says its faster on the highway - thats for the old airport, of course. You should probably add 15 minutes to get from the new one.

The Pen will pick you up in a Rolls for under $100. Its actually worth it if you like that kind of thing.

The guy who meets you in the airport calls the driver on a cell phone. By the time you get your luggage out of the airport, the Rolls is pulling up to the curb.

There are cool towels & drinks in the car, and the ride is very nice.

Same treatment when you get to the hotel, the Manager met us at the car and took us right to the room. We actually checked in in the room as opposed to in the lobby.

I would do it again for a special occasion.

But you need to specify in advance that you want the Rolls. Our car from the Pen was a regular ole mercedes. (Not that I cared, as we were heading back to the Airport and we just wanted to catch our flight on time, not go in style!)

don't take a taxi on your first arrival in bkk....way too confusing...

an airport limo/car as kathie suggests is best...cost from old airport about 800B ($20) plus tolls of 60B...from the new airport no one knows how much yet but not much more probably...

time from old airport depends on your arrival time but an hour or less is usual....the new airport may be longer

Tha airline is unlikely to know more than what the current opening date is supposed to be. When it will really open, who knows?
