Singapore Hotel Choices
Thank you everyone for your comments on my Singapore hotel choices. Some of our other options for hotels besides the Sheraton Towers, and Marina Mandarin are the Raffles Plaza, Meritus Mandarin (on Orchard Road) and the Swisshotel the Stamford. Any more ideas will be greatly appreciated, thanks again.

Hi. There are tons of hotels in Sinagpore. So the choice depends on budget and location preference. I think a good option in you want to be on orchard road is the Grand Hyatt or even Marriott. Swissotel Stamford is also good but you will have to take a taxi everywhere.

Raffles the Plaza - but that's pretty high end.
If you're going for the Meritus Mandarin, make sure you don't get a low floor or else the noise from traffic on Orchard Road will get to you.
There are other lower range options if you'd consider those. Don't know if you'd like some of the boutique hotels?

I stayed at Swissotel the Stamford last week. I like it a lot. It's a nice hotel with shopping mall. I was upgraded to the executive floor with a river view. The room is spacious. Check out the official web site. They have promotions and special offers. THe package I had was for Singapore Airlines. I got a rate of s$175 (exclude tax)and a late check out. Highly recommend. Also stayed at Le Meridien on Orchard. Very old hotel. Don't go there. It's no cheap.

I agree with Nodda, the meridien has seen better days. The Crown prince I think it tops for value and location, right on Orchard Road. if you want a small boutique place the Royal peacock in Chinatown is a 'little gem', not to everyone's taste as no pool or other such facilities but just love the character and style of the place, very 'Humphrey Boggart' style, a world away from the other 'block' type of hotels.
