We are in Hanoi at the moment and although the weather isn’t great, it isn’t raining. The typhoon that struck the north has been downgraded to a tropical depression and has moved south taking the wet weather with it.
The train tracks to Sapa were washed out and people were being bussed around the damaged section last week but I would imagine things are getting back to normal now. At least that is the line being taken by tour operators here.
Sapa is unlikely to flood as it is on a mountain side but trekking in wet weather is never going to as nice a when there are blue skies and sunshine!
If you are going in say a week or two, I wouldn’t worry too much as N Vietnam is heading into the dry season. That said, it should be dry already!
