Question re: Bangkok Airways excess baggage allowance

Hello,

My family and I leave for SE Asia in less than 2 weeks. I just signed up everyone in my family for the Bangkok Airways Flyer Bonus program so we can each get the extra 10kg of baggage on flights (thanks to the people on this board for the tip)! However, when I booked our plane tickets, I did not know of this benefit of the Flyer Bonus program so I did not add our Flyer Bonus ID numbers to our reservations. Can someone please tell me how I can add the Flyer Bonus ID information to our bookings so Bangkok Airways has our information in their systems? If I can't do this, how can I ensure that we are allowed the extra 10kgs? Do we need to each bring a print-out of our Flyer Bonus card and show it at check-in for each flight? Thanks in advance for your help!

You could call them and ask them to add your ID to the record or as you said just bring the printout of your card with you.

How overweight will your bags be? Ours were around 25kg each and they didn't care. Air Asia on the other hand is another story.

Smartcookie,

We haven't packed yet. Since we are also flying Vietnam Airlines, we will probably try to keep it within 20kgs and each bring a soft duffel bag with us in case we go over. I just want to have the luxury of buying souveneirs and not having to worry about meeting the baggage limits since Thailand is the last stop of our trip.

Vietnam Airlines were the same as Bangkok Airways in our experience. They didn't care about the 5kg overage.

AirAsia, however, made us take out stuff (to carry on board in a bag instead) to make it exactly 15kg and not a gram over.

don't worry. in bkk now and just flew several flights with bangkok air. they are a very good airline and have interline agreements for your return flights. you can add your ff # at the ticket counter, but to be honest, could not find ours on one of the flights and they paid almost no attention to weight. don't worry. also carried on three large bags at the end, one was gifts, and that was also fine. flights were ontime and comfortable to and from cambodia and thru bkk to and from burma. have a great trip.
