Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines
Our ship will dock at Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines for a few hours in March 8am-5pm in March. We read reviews that while the UNESCO underground river is a must do, but the long travel hours and waiting time for 45 minutes of pleasure does not seem too promising, esp we had been to many caves in Halong Bay, Harrison Cave in Barbados.
We are considering taking the local bus to Honda Bay and do the islands hopping on our own. We love the sea, and snorkel. Kindly advise (1) is it safe to travel on the local bus - with the benefit of experiencing the local culture -people watch etc, (2) is the local bus reliable, time wise and frequency between the cruise terminal and the Honda Bay (3) are there local ferries that frequent the Honda Bay area and the islands, eg Cowrie Island, Starfish Island,Isla Pandan . Perhaps we may be wrong on this occasion, but generally feel safer to use the local transportation. We believe English is widely spoken on the tourist island. All and any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
