private guide in China

We are looking to go to China for 10 days and would like some references for private guides or organizations that organize customized tours. Any recommandations?

I arranged the guides from the US. I used Mongol Global in 2005 and 2006. You can search for my Fodors trip reports using the words Panda (2006) Mongolia (2005). I can provide a link if you prefer.

I can recommend Wild China (google their website), which is committed to eco-tourism in China. They're definitely reliable, no enforced shopping trips! Off topic, the company is owned by the wife of a former LA TImes correspondent to Beijing, who recently wrote a great book about China called Chinese Lessons.

Thanks to both of you. I have sent some request for customized tours to both organizations.

Petitepois, do you think Wild China would be willing to arrange day trips?

EK - They seem very flexible and helpful. I'm sure a daytrip would be possible.

Pat - I agree. Jenrich is spamming this board.
