private guide in China

We are looking to go to China for 10 days and would like some references for private guides or organizations that organize customized tours. Any recommandations?

I arranged the guides from the US. I used Mongol Global in 2005 and 2006. You can search for my Fodors trip reports using the words Panda (2006) Mongolia (2005). I can provide a link if you prefer.

I can recommend Wild China (google their website), which is committed to eco-tourism in China. They're definitely reliable, no enforced shopping trips! Off topic, the company is owned by the wife of a former LA TImes correspondent to Beijing, who recently wrote a great book about China called Chinese Lessons.

Thanks to both of you. I have sent some request for customized tours to both organizations.

does anyone else find these posts about Kung kind of strange? Almost like advertising...

Agree with you Petitepois.
Wild China has been super responsive. Very positive so far. Thanks

Petitepois, do you think Wild China would be willing to arrange day trips?

petitepois Mar 5th, 2007 02:44 PM

EK - They seem very flexible and helpful. I'm sure a daytrip would be possible.

Pat - I agree. Jenrich is spamming this board.

Thanks, PP. I will write to Wild China.
