Phuket--quiet resort suggestion? Mom Tri already.
Hello everyone
Last year with lots of help from this forum my husband and I went to Thailand--BKK and Phuket. We had a wonderful time and now we are off again in few weeks.
Last year I took the suggestion and we stayed at Mom-Tri. Kata Beach is wonderful but the rooms are not that great and need a refurbishment. However we want to try something new for us.
Any suggestion for resorts in Phuket besides Mom Tri Boathouse? I prefer Karon or Kata Beach or even Bang Tao looks nice. But not Patong plz.
For a few nights we are staying on Hilton honors at Hilton Phuket but want to stay in a smaller boutique hotel close to beach and quieter if possible. Thank you so much in advanced.

If you go to my website at cjscollection.com, then click on the photo gallery link on the left side of the page, you will find 5 photo albums. Select the ASIA album, go to photos numbered 48-55 and you will see some pictures taken at Kata Thani. Hope this helps.

I have stayed in three different areas:
1. Mai Khao - Mariott Resort
Very nice. Has 2 private pools and a huge, very long beach. Far from Patong. Many activities like discover scuba, painting, thai cooking. has a shuttle to patong or phuket town every hour.
2. Laguna - Sheraton Grande Laguna, it shares the beach with other resorts like Dusit, Laguna Beach, etc. Lots of activities.
3. Patong - Sunset Beach Resort. a 10 minute walk from patong beach.

Rates begin to tumble down from mid April after Songkran, so if you have choices of dates after Songkran much cheaper by far !
Kamala is north of Patong, much more built up now, if you don't mind a 'quiet' resort style place between Patong and Kamala the Thavorn beach Village is good, it 'is' a remote location, off the road which runs north of Patong to Kamala etc, though that is in the USD 150+ range low season.
Surin beach is in my opinion a 'very good choice', north of Kamala, and there are some good places to eat in the area, Surin Beach resort is about 3 star beach hotel style with studios, small suites around USD 75 , USD 60-75 range, about 50% more than that until after Songkran. If you want something stylish at Surin I would go for the Manathai, it is just across from the beach where they have reserved loungers, very stylish boutique place ( same owners as Manathai Chiang mai, the Phuket one opened first, the pool though is very small, if you want a large pool then it might not suit you, in the USD 80-300 range from normal to pool suite, deluxe room around USD 110, you can read reviews on

Next up at Bangtao is the BW Premier beach hotel, 80-100 range, but if you like boutique style the Manathai is well worth looking at.
