Orient Thai Airlines

Trying to book a last minute family trip from Hong Kong to Phuket but all of the Thai Airways flights are full. Only option available is Orient Thai. I have flown a lot of sketchy airlines around Asia on my own, but this trip includes my 2 year old and 6 year old. Is Orient Thai safe/reliable?

Any input would be appreciated.

Are you talking about 1-2-go - for domestic flights - or their parent Orient Thai - for direct flights from Hong Kong? Either way, I think they're quite safe. I've never heard of any problems about them. The budget carrier 1-2-Go is quite popular in Thailand because they use bigger planes than other budget carriers and have a flat rate.

I fly Orient Thai from BKK to HKT regularly - on time - good equipment. No problems.

Don't know if they use the 757 or 747 for HKG-HKT, but Orient Thai's 747s are some of the oldest passenger 747s still in service in the world.

Old does mean less reliable, and dated interior. But old can still be good - a lot of people like NW's DC-9!
