Yes, the riddle was solved!
Walking through the Kaminarimon Gate, we headed north through the Nakamise Street shops/stalls towards the Senso-ji shrine. It was a few short blocks north (more than we thought it would be), but eventually we turned LEFT at a larger intersection and the Ryokan Shigetsu was on the left-hand side of the street.
We enjoyed the Shigetsu and found it perfect for our needs. We also had a fund sukiyaki dinner at Imahan, a couple blocks from the ryokan.

alan64: Hi, long time no hear from. Glad it turned out ok finding Shigetsu. Is it true that they close from 10 am or so til 3 pm, so they still do that? I think that has been pointed out before and I want to be able to go back to the room mid-day to drop off shopping items before heading to Odaiba. Otherwise would love to stay there.

I'm sorry I've been away from the forum for a while. Our trip was wonderful, in no small part thanks to the help received here.
Although the Shigetsu rooms were closed for cleaning in the early afternoon, we always found that there was someone at the front desk available who could take packages, if necessary. I never saw the place completely locked up.
