Thanks - not my idea - stole it from these forums which I have been trawling nonstop these days. Never knew there were so many Thailand experts here. It's random but awesome (and a ltitle overwhelming).

ratings are all over the map as said above... don't risk it...
look at marriott resort and spa for under $200...
do you have any starwood pts? they offer fantastic deals on cash and points in thailand: www.spg.com
the plaza anthanee is very nice, centrally located and still has a 4800 B rate i think

Thanks for the rec! Only points I have are from the Intercontinental whixch doesn't seem to be on the river. Must get my butt offline now - we leave in the AM and I have not packed a thing. Keep the recs coming though.

Intercontinental is really quite nice. They've just undergone a huge renovation of their big lobby area... not sure about rooms being renovated/remodeled. DH and I stayed there in 2002 when it was Le Meridien. Location is fantastic. Skytrain and shopping are all right there.
I stayed at Phloenchit Holiday Inn about 2 years ago, just before we discovered Adelphi Suites. I liked that HI. My room was spacious and light/airy. Breakfast buffet (extra cost) had a huge selection.
