Krabi to Laos

Afaik, neither Nok Air nor Air Asia fly to Laos. You do need to fly through Bangkok. WHere are you going in Laos? The only non-stops from Bangkok to Puang Prabang are on Bangkok Air. Thai Air and Lao fly from Bangkok to Vietienne.

It depends where in Laos you are going.
It's via Bangkok whichever.
If you are heading to Vientiane and want to do it cheap, Air Asia will do you Krabi-Bangkok-Udon Thani, dep Krabi 1225 arr BKK 1345, depart BKK 1615 arr Udon Thani 1715, you would probably want to overnight and crosss over in the morning. Hotel in Udon Thani would arrange that for you easily.
Nok Air will take you Krabi-Bangkok(Don Muang)-Udon Thani but the transit in Bangkok is a few hours longer ( leave Krabi 1140 arr Udon Thani 1805 )
Both those are in the $50/60 range plus taxes etc
If you are heading to Luang Prabang then Bangkok Airways Krabi-Bangkok(Suvarnabhumi)-Luang Prabang but with current schedules you would need to overnight in Bangkok. But that might suit you anyway. Then take the 0930 flight in the morning, if you wanted a night in Bangkok anyhow.
So a quicker way would be to go by road to Phuket Airport ( depending where you stay in krabi 2.5 to 3 hrs roughtly ) and take Bangkok Airways at 1015 arr BKK 1125, then BKK-Luang Prabang at 1330 arr 1530, so overall that would be easily the fastest way to do Krabi to Luang Prabang.

There is also a good overnight train from Bangkok to close to the Thai border near Vientiane - it's easy to get cheap transport on into Vientiane when you get off the train. If you're headed for southern Laos, there's another overnight train that goes to Ubon Ratchathani, but it's further to get into Laos from there.
