Ko Phangan and Ko Samui in October
I am planning a trip to Thailand October 22 - November 5. My plan was to stay for a couple of days in Bangkok and then head out to Ko Phangan. Is it unwise to plan a trip to the East Coast beaches at the end of October - should I target one of the West Coast beaches instead? Any advise would be much appreciated!

You really have to be lucky to avoid rain at that time of year in Samui/Phangan. When the rain does come it can tend to be unrelenting and some parts of the Island can flood considerably.
It is also most likely that you will get some rain on the West Coast beaches but it would tend to be in shorter spurts.
Depending on your priorities, you can still enjoy your time in either area at that time of year, but I would personally avoid the Southern Gulf Islands in OCT, NOV and DEC.

Might think about Bali for less rain...
Or wait till early december...
