Weather in Late October - Phuket?

We are looking for some pool days. The "dry" season typically starts in mid-November. Anything thoughts on what we might encounter in very late October?

If October is similar to other Octobers, you can expect 12 inches of rain at Phuket. November starts to get drier, 8.2 inches and usually in late November, the weather is good. December gets just 2 inches of rain.

That said, none of us can predict the weather. If sunny days at the pool are important to you, you might want to reconsider.

this year weather really unpredictable in Thailand..... However for Phuket, it's nearly end of raining in October .... will be lesser amount of rain comparing to now... you would be able to see more sun ....

I have been to Thailand in every month of the year and can report that it's always hot and a bit of rain in the afternoon is a welcoming relief. So, the weather should be of no concern as it will rain everywhere at some time or another.

Here is an interactive weather map to Thailand. All you need to do is mouse over different parts of the map of Thailand and climatic data will be displayed: http://www.travelfish.org/weather_fish.php

That's a nice interactive map, Kalil. Thanks for the link.

As you can see from the map, October has the second highest rainfall (after Sept) in the Phuket area. It really depends on how you feel about rain. If you can be happy even if it rains for a couple of hours every afternoon, or if you have a day or two of mostly rain, then go. If you are the sort of person who feels their vacation can be ruined by a rainy day or two, then reconsider.

Yes Kathie but then if they went in February or March of this year when it is normally dry, they would have encountered record amounts of rain. I think they should just go whenever is best for them and just deal with the weather when they're there.

Spot on mcbg1.
Phuket is a year round holiday destination.
There are NEVER any guarantees re weather.

Just go........and see what happens.

I agree with you both, mcbg and Leigh, that would be my approach. But I live in Seattle so am not bothered by a little or even a lot of rain. I have learned, however, that some people feel their vacation is ruined by a day or two of rain. While there are never guarantees about weather, you can increase your chances or decrease your chances of encountering rain by when you choose to go.

The later in the year the better chance of better weather, calmer seas and reduction in humidity. Of course the weather has been unpredictable all over the world but it will most likely fall in line, or in another word, will be more like those of the yearly average.
