Ko Phangan and Ko Samui in October
I am planning a trip to Thailand October 22 - November 5. My plan was to stay for a couple of days in Bangkok and then head out to Ko Phangan. Is it unwise to plan a trip to the East Coast beaches at the end of October - should I target one of the West Coast beaches instead? Any advise would be much appreciated!

You really have to be lucky to avoid rain at that time of year in Samui/Phangan. When the rain does come it can tend to be unrelenting and some parts of the Island can flood considerably.
It is also most likely that you will get some rain on the West Coast beaches but it would tend to be in shorter spurts. Depending on your priorities, you can still enjoy your time in either area at that time of year, but I would personally avoid the Southern Gulf Islands in OCT, NOV and DEC. I have followed this blog....http://samui-weather.blogspot.com/ over the years and have found it useful in planning trips to Samui. |

Hi,I think it is not a good idea. At this period is the rainy season.

Might think about Bali for less rain... Or wait till early december... |
Thanks for the advice. Im now thinking that we will either stay the entire time in the North or just spend a couple of days on a beach on the West coast towards the end of the trip.
