I like the kanchanaburi area, apart from the history side the River kwai is great, river rafts, nice resorts, golf, hot springs, it's a nice area to get out into the natural areas without having to go far from bangkok, day trips are a rush but there are lots of eco tours and if you are into rivers and scenery it makes for a nice few days.

Hi Koala
I'm not a history buff but I loved Kanchanburi. The war museum bought me to tears, it was so sad but saying that we also did the train ride over the bridge and had a great time. If you can get there for a day I suggest go for it and try(maybe) the tiger temple, we missed it and really regret not getting there

Thank you Tangata. Do you think it's possible that rhkkmk has learned something he didn't know before?

He's a self-proclaimed member of the "core group". The "core group" - wow!! And in order to express an opinion here you must conform. Do not in any way challenge his prejudices or preferences. No room here for different strokes, or an alternative to the accepted norm.

I always find it amusing when posters reflect an emotional response to other posters. Whether it's a cheap shot at someone's likes/dislikes or a quick retort to some perceived injustice, it tends to make the responder seem somewhat tawdry. The differences of opinion make the forum more interesting. There's no reason why someone expressing a difference need engage in ad hominum attacks.
