Even though $20 seems and is cheap - it's only a 1-hr flight; you're barely off the ground and you've arrived Chiange Mai. In Economy they serve a boxed meal - nothing exciting, but will suffice.
Unless there are no economy seats available I wouldn't pay the extra $20 plus tax for business. The economy fare is only $50 plus tax.

i think that the lounge benefit would be well worth it....last fall we flew bangkok air and they treated us to their lounge and it made all the difference....i find the thai airport lounges for coach customers hot and uncomfortable...is that $20. round trip?? if so it is worth it although on the CM end i can't imagine any special services are available...

To the extent that EVERYTHING goes right on the flight including boarding, food, drink, time out of the gate, time off the ground and so on.....It might not be worth the $20....
BUT: (and its a big but!)...If anything goes wrong including weather / mechanical / equipment delays, you're likely to be very happy you spent the extra $20.....In which case you could simply go to the lounge and wait out the delay.
I have paid "marginal" amounts more for 1st class tix SIN-KUL if for no other reason than to have access to the first class lounges....
Enjoy your trip either way! Best wishes, Dave

Unless you are on a tight budget, it's worth the extra $20 to be able to check in at the business class ticket counter instead of waiting in a long line at economy, and to have access to the lounge. There is always complimentary food and drink in the lounge, so that alone makes up some of the extra cost.
