JAIPUR – The Pink City
Aya Niwas Hotel – 5 nights
Very early departure from Delhi at 6:10 a.m. and arriving Jaipur 10:45 a.m.
We booked 5 nights at the Aya Niwas, it’s a Haveli (courtyards) with vegetarian restaurant and bookstore. About $20 a night. Location good as we like to be located near the Old City.
We decided to walk to the Old City. Somehow we got “lost” and and walked through a residential area. We were the only tourists walking in this local residential area. It felt so good, the young children calling out to us again and again with “Hello!, Where are you from?” I had shawl covering my arms. The children would touch my arm. A young teenage girl, tugged the back of my long black hair so I turned around and she smiled. I complimented her on her dress. We wandered and wandered in this area, the people smiling at us and we felt so very welcome to India, our first day in Jaipur.
At the hotel bookstore, bought the book Jaipur: 10 easy walks. So we don’t get lost. Although sometimes getting lost is a good thing.
Chohki Dhanni – mock Rajasthani village
Our hotel booked an Ambassador car for us for round trip to the Chohki Dhanni
for 450 rupies. It cost 250 rupies per person for entrance fee and dinner.
Wonderful food, thali dinner, and authentic entertainment. Tippped the dancers several times. A good evening.
We enjoyed our first day in Jaipur.

Booked the hotel via e-mail. And reconfirmed the dates via e-mail about a couple weeks before we arrived.

Somehow we got “lost” and and walked through a residential area...
As great as seeing the Taj and other sites are, this would be one of the highlights of the trip for me for me
I hope you got some pictures of the beautiful kids. Though it might have felt strange snapping photos in a residential neighborhood.
