Hotels in BKK

Could any advise if they have had any luck booking hotels through Priceline for Bangkok?

This will be my first time back in 30 years--can anyone recommend a good 4* hotel. I stayed at the Oriental back then--too expensive now.

thanks!

A list of 4* hotels:

Click on them for details. Bangkok was quite third world when I first went there 22 years ago so you probably won't recognise the place now, with all the new buildings and malls. The Skytrain and metro make getting around easy as the traffic is a nightmare. Taxis are metered now and fairly cheap. A handy tourist site:

My wife had a good experience at the Oriental last year, but I don't know that it's the best deal anymore... I think they've gotten a lot of good press lately and used that as an excuse to raise their rates.

Here's a map of all the international quality hotels in Bangkok and their prices in US dollars:

If you want a river location, you might look at the Royal Orchid Sheraton or the Marriott Resort.

If you don't necessarily need a location on the river, take a look at the two places I just stayed on my last trip. The Adelphi Suites on Sukhumvit soi 8 and the Grand Sukhumvit Sofitel on soi 6 are both in the shopping/nightlife area of Bangkok.

Take a look at Biddingfortravel.com for the latest info on priceline bidding. If you have Starwood points, you can use them to stay at the Royal Orchid Sheraton. marriott points at the river marriott and Hilton points at the Milenium Hilton.

look at agoda, asiarooms or one of the other discount sites....you might also try priceline hong kong...
