Not familar with either of those hotels. $100 dollars if we are talking US will go a long way in Bangkok and for that money you could secure a seriously good 5* hotel. In the Sukhumvit / Siam Square area
If you explore Priceline you should have no problem picking up a 5* for about $80 dollars a night in that area.
Even in peak period $100 will get you an excellent 4* like the Novotel in Siam Square.
You'll be spoilt for choice

The above mentioned are serviced apartments in the Sukhumvit area. They are both well-known ones although I haven't personally stayed at those two. I think Simpson 510 stayed at one of them or another one in the same chain. Someone on this board has stayed there. Maybe they'll answer this post. I just remember that someone posted, last year, that a friend had stayed at the President Solitaire(the expensive one) and had had a problem with the place. The person, however, didn't state what the problem was. There are a lot of serviced apartments in Bangkok just go on moveandstay.com to research different apartments in different parts of the city and make sure wherever you stay that it's close to a skytrain station. There are location maps on moveandstay.com. Happy Travels!

I'm not familiar with either of the names you mention but I stayed at the Landmark on the Sukhumvit Road and it was possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed at, highly recommended although I have no idea on price now, book direct as they guarantee lowest price anywhere that way and they often have special offers like 3rd night free on the website

I've stayed at Grand President, and yes, it is a serviced apartment building. The apartments there are really very nice! I have not seen the Solitaire, but I believe it is in the same area, just a little bit further away from the skytrain than President.

Both these are fairly adequate, not high end service apts. Re being near the sights. In Bkk u are well advised to stay near a sky train stop as this is the fastest mode of transport for most places. Hence I would suggest you take a look at Centerpoint, Soi Tonson and Emporium Suites (under renovation currently so rates dropped considerably and you may be able to negotiate a good deal) which are situated very near the Sukhumvit line BTS.

Hobbes...do you mean...Somerset Suwan Park View on Soi Tonson or is their another building on the same street? And which building is doing renovations? I wasn't aware that the Emporium Suites were under renovation, at least I hope not since I'll be staying there next month. The last thing I want to hear is drilling etc...Happy Travels!
