Hotel recommendations in Kyoto

Does anyone have any recommendations on hotels in Kyoto? I'm looking for something under 19,000 yen (or somewhere between $100 to $160 usd) per night. I would prefer a location close to train stations and convenient to get to sights, etc.

I have never stayed in a hotel under 19K in Kyoto but they can be found. Try looking through these sites while waiting for others to contribute

I stayed here in '06 when it was called the Sun Hotel.

It's a business hotel and was perfectly adequate for my needs as a single traveler.

After searching it seems to me that the hotels in Kyoto are more expensive than Tokyo (is that correct)? In any case I ended up booking at Karasuma Kyoto Hotel. Did a search and got some pretty good reviews and it's close to the train station.

Hi, travlr67 -

> it's close to the train station.

I prefer to stay in the Kawaramachi district - easy access to various train and subway lines and, IMO, a more interesting part of the city. You might check out the Hotel Alpha Kyoto. It gets mixed reviews, but it suited my needs.

Hope that helps!
