So where are you going on your honeymoon? South Korea? Japan? Taiwan? Papua New Guinea? You could certainly go to Japan, South Korea and Taiwan in one trip, but Papua New Guinea is several long flights away.

Have you done any research about PNG? IT's a very expensive trip, and accommodations are quite primitive.

Nice website - you have been to lots of interesting places.

I have not been to PNG, though I did research a trip there. You might want to read some others' experiences there - choose PNG from the drop-down menu at the top of the page and read posts about it.

October is OK. PNG being at the equator, October is in neither the northern or southern monsoon season.

What are you planning as your honeymoon? Hopefully not Port Moresby, somewhere nicer around Milne Bay, the Trobriands, Rabaul/Kavieng, Madang, anywhere on the north coast or the islands of PNG, but especially not the south.

We have worked there over the years. You must be very careful in Moresby and Lae now regarding local violence.

You must also be careful about health. Malaria has now become virulent in some bad strains, tuberculosis has become drug-resistant in some bad strains, syphylis and ghonnorhea are endemic and increasingly medication-resistant, AIDS has a significant hold. Rape is a common crime, murder is worse still, by guns and knives.

You may wish to reconsider your honeymoon plans if looking at the mainland of PNG, but having given you these warnings, there are many lovely parts of PNG if you know to avoid the worst parts.

The Trobriands and Rabaul and the Solomons and New Ireland/New Britain are some of the nicest places in Melanesia, safe and welcoming with happy people. They take a bit of effort to get there, though.
