You mean the typhoon season? Usually it's summer, but it might still happen in Sept. And it might still be hot and humid in Sept.

I was there in September--September 11-14th since I couldn't get home--and it was mildly warm and no rain.

Typhoon season in HK is around June to Oct inclusive. It is very hot from Jun to Sept, August being the worst. It's not the heat but the humidity that gets to you. However if you stay indoors at the malls, the air-conditioning is blasting.
