The Marriott Resort is extremely popular on this site, run a search for suggestions on what rooms to ask for, etc. I am a huge fan. Best city hotel pool in Asia, IMO, there is shade and a very helpful bar wait/staff -- happy hour begins with the bell ringing everyday at 4 pm. . . . My suggestion would be for a suite or junior suite, esp the corner suites which are at the front of the two river wings which overlook both the river and the pool and have a number of balconies. A junior suite with river view would be second, either in the building in which the health club is located or the building in which the Market restaurant is located.
You might want to make some spa bookings soon, esp if you want the first or last appointments of the day.
You will just miss Songkran (New Year) which is April 13 -15, but people will still be in a holiday mood and you may seem some lingering celebrations.
Congratulations and have a great honeymoon!

Hi
I have not stayed at the hotels you mention. But my wife and I have been to Bangkok and Thailand on vacation a couple of times and it is a great vacation destination. I have posted trip reports and pictures from our trips on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com
Maybe you can find some useful information there. Have a great trip...and a great wedding

Congratulations, apart from the obvious I think the main thing to do is 'enjoy', ok you only have a short time but you can really see and do some amazing things. Have a good time, if you really are stuck on what to you I am sure Bangkok will give you some excellent ideas.
Others will advise more on the Marriott, I lived in BKK before moving down the coast but like so many 'residents' we don't stay in the hotels ! But I would certainly say any riverside place with a river view will add to the tantalising experience, note you are flying in just on tail of Thai new year ( Songkran ), pity you couldn't move it forward a week, would be well well worth it!

some here consider that i push the marriott, but i don't know why???
it simply is the best all around hotel in bkk...it has the best pool....a very friendly staff...it is not pretensious at all...it rooms are just the right size...the beds are those fabulous marriott mattresses...the restaurants, while a little pricey are good....the river boat (free) is a blast and very lovely...the skytrain is only a 10-15 minute boat ride away...taxis are plentiful...the mini mall has lots of services and restaurants including mcdonalds, burger king and swensons ice cream...the bank just outside the mall has an atm and offers much better exchange rates than the hotel...
sometimes they will upgrade you if you tell them it is your honeymoon???
i love the place and we will be there 4 different times during our thai trip in may/june this year..
good rates on www.huahin.20m.com---all inclusive...scroll down the site and click on "other thailand destinations:...then drop down the top box and click on "bangkok city"...i thin just now it is about $115-130...you save a lot on this site...tax/service is 17.7%...breakfast is about $12.50 each otherwise...

I definately agree about the Marriott resort & spa on the river, instead of the luxury high-rises, especially for a honeymoon. It has a lovely open-air feel and luxury laid-back atmosphere, with tropical gardens & beautiful pool as others have said. We had a junior suite in the center wing which overlooked the pool & gardens (and the river past the pool) and it was lovely & very comfortable with teak wood floors and a large marble bathroom with separate large shower and tub.
Don't know if you like spas, but the spa at the Marriott was expensive & very mediocre. There are lots of other fabulous spas in BKK, and you will see many recommendations if you do a search on this forum. As to other things to do in BKK, you can find out about all the main sites on the web & in guidebooks. BKK also has lots of good restaurants with atmosphere, and you can get recommendations by doing a search on this forum. Are you going anywhere else in Thailand? There are fabulous beach areas in Thailand that would also be perfect for a honeymoon.

Problem with the Sukothai is it isn't in a particularly great location and I do believe that you should be on the river.
I have not stayed at or been to the Ibrik but there have been a couple of good reports on this forum. I think you have to decide what kind of hotel you want. The Ikrit is more like a deluxe B & B. Minimum services. Only a few rooms. Very private/isolated. The Marriott is a deluxe resort. Both are places people love but they are VERY different.

Depends what kind of honeymoon you have in mind.
I think any of them would be great for some people on a honeymoon and not for others. Personally, the
Chakrabongse Villas look by far the most "romantic" to me. But I'm not a "resort" person. The gorgeous pool at the Marriott doesn't mean anything to me.
