Junior suite view at Bangkok Marriott resort and spa?

I have stayed at the Bangkok Marriott Resort and spa before where we had a "deluxe river view" room as opposed to a room with a "city" view. For our honeymoon, we were thinking about using our Marriott points for a junior suite. The website says the junior suite has a "resort" view. My question is: Is the resort view facing the pool/river or is it facing outwards with a similar "city" view. Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge, a “resort” view is on the interior side and looks toward the pool. As you probably know, the hotel is three buildings in a U shape, so only rooms at the open end of the “U” on the river have full river views. That being said, the “resort” view is very pretty, esp at night when the pool is lit. You would also have an oblique view to the river. You may also be in the building at the bottom of the “U” (where the lobby is located) and therefor would have a straight-line view to the river beyond the pool.

I don’t know when your honeymoon will be, but Marriott will stop managing the hotel as of November 1, 2011. The hotel will become an Anantara. If you wanted to use Marriott Rewards points for this stay, that won’t be possible after October next year.

I would highly recommend paying for access to the concierge lounge which is normally reserved for Marriott Gold and Platinum elite members. The lounge is located on the main level of the hotel and is fantastic. You will be treated like royalty in the lounge and the complimentary food and beverages are top-of-the-line. The ladies who work there are gracious and helpful. The pool is extremely large and one of the nicest ones in Bangkok. The best way to get around Bangkok from the hotel is to take the hotel's complimentary boat to the dock that connects up with the Skytrain station as well as other water transportation. The hotel outdoor grounds are truly beautiful for a Bangkok property. I have stayed in the junior suite and would recommend the larger suite, if possible. Enjoy your honeymoon!

We've stayed in a junior suite twice and it was very comfortable. First time we were in the center building (at the bottom of the U looking out over the pool) and the second time we were in the building on the right side of the U looking out over the tropical garden toward the pool, which we loved. Enjoy your honeymoon!

Be very careful if they offer to upgrade you to a full suite. I got one of those, and it was ginormous: huge living room with a dining area to the side, huge bedroom, great master bathroom, separate guest bathroom, and a small balcony.

Downside was that the balcony overlooks an outdoor bar/restaurant, which offered amped-up music from 9pm to 1am, which I got to enjoy whether I wanted to or not. And, having arrived around 7pm after a long trip, it was the last thing I wanted.
