Heading to Krabi - help on area to stay

Hi, husband and I are heading to Krabi for a week ( we live in BKK) and would like some suggestions on areas to stay. We hear mixed review on Krabi Town and Ao Nang. Should be looking in other areas? We do plan a few days in Koh Lanta. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Do not stay in Krabi Town. I think Ao Nang is worth visiting for a few days. You can visit different islands every day. I stayed at the Phu Petra Resort last year and I loved it.

Look at Railay Beach. I think you would like it. If you want activity, Ao Nang is plenty to do, and is a short boat ride away.

I stayed at Sofitel Krabi - the Resort was absolutely outstanding but you need a car to travel into the main shopping area.

One of my favorite experiences in Krabi was a sidecar taxi ride! Fun fun fun.

Look at the Amari Vogue if the budget will stand that much. Great get away place. You do need a car to get there, but easily rented at the air port, or they will pick you up for a price.
