Son Doong cave is of Phong Nha-Ke Bang national park, Quang Binh province, Vietnam. It's five times larger than Phong Nha cave, the previous largest in Vietnam. Son Doong was found in 1991 by a local guide, then in 2009, this guide led the British scientist team to Son Doong to make a thorough survey.I've seen some pics of this cave. It's so gorgeous, stunning and amazing.

Son Doong Cave now opens for adventurous tours through trekking and caving with full support from local team and caving experts from UK. This tour is for those who are seeking for real adventure and conquer the whole Son Doong Cave over a trip of 5 days 4 nights.

Beside Son Doong, this area develops with more caving and trekking trips from easy to really hard for different tastes of travellers. All aim at sustainable development.

I will be in the Phong Nha Ke Bang area next Feb. I am not visiting this cave though as the cost for the 5 day trek is outrageous. I will visit some of the other caves as day trips.

From the Oxalis web site:

5 days / 4 nights (plus 1 night before and 1 night after the expedition)
VND 66,000,000 or US$3,000/pax (incl. $660 National Park fee

Too steep for me, even if it wasn't sold out. This is for serious covers only.
I'll have to be content with the day tours into the other caves.

We will visit two caves as day trips:

Paradise Cave trek, 7km into the cave, 2,650,000VND each
http://phong-nha-cave.com/tours/trekparadise/

Phong Nha Cave, go by boat
http://www.lonelyplanet.com/vietnam/...cave-boat-trip

Oxalis does offer a 1 night camping in the cave but still very expensive. Mayne next trip. I was so impressed with the caves at Mulu National Park in Borneo that I wanted to see more.

This amazing cave is open to tourists but the limit is only 500pax per year. 2017 is full, and 2018 list is just open some week ago. Might be a month later it will be full again.
