Guangzhou-HK-Guangzhou,visa at border?
We are going to Guangzhou 29th Sep.
We applied for doubble entry but got back the passports with single entry. Our plan was to visit Hongkong. Is it possible to get a visa for HK at the border? When we arrive to HK or when we go back to Guangzhou? Nobody seems to know.We have to get back to Guangzhou for the flight back home.
(found this site by accindent, have learned a lot from here. Enjoyable!!!!

The problem is not getting a visa for HK; the problem is getting a visa for re-entering China. If you are a US citizen, you will not be able to get a visa to re-enter China at the border with HK. If you will be in HK for more than a day, you can get another single-entry visa in HK (either by yourself, which will take a lot of time, or through your hotel concierge). You will have to pay the visa fee, any expedite fee if you want the visa in 1 day, plus fees to whoever gets the visa for you (if you don't do it yourself).

Americans cannot get Chinese visa at the border. You can get a visa in Hong Kong, and the faster you need it, the more you pay. You can even have it same day, but probably not Sunday.
If you live in or near a city here that has a Chinese consulate, you may still have time to get the 2nd visa before you leave on the 29th.

No, don't count on playing something extra and getting a visa for China at the border. With 6 days in Hong Kong, you can easily arrange your visa to re-enter China while you are in Hong Kong. Apply as soon as you can once you get to Hong Kong.

With 6 days in Hong Kong, you should have enough time to get a visa there. You can do it directly at the Chinese passport office, Mon-Fri 9-12, 2-5, except Hong Kong public holidays (including Oct 1). 6th Floor, Lower Block, Chinese Resource Building, 26 Harbour Road, Wan Chai.
Here's their official site, but I can't find an English version. www.fmcoprc.gov.hk/chn/lsfw/default.htm
They have standard (pick up 2 days later), fast (next day), or superfast (same day). Fees are HK$150/300/400 for single entry visa for most countries citizens including Finland (but not UK/US).
Or you can use an agent. One of the better and cheapest one for non-US passports is Japan Travel Agency (Hong Kong). www.jta.biz/chinavisa/
