Four seasons Koh samui or Amanpuri phuket? Please advise
I am still having trouble trying to decide between four seasons koh samui or the amanpuri phuket.
I need general positives and negatives for each hotel for those who have visited.
Id appreciate any comments!!!

Flyertalk's luxury hotel board has lots of discussion including stay reports of each of these hotels. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=220

I would not go to Koh Samui in December. It is the tail end of the rainy season, and it may be rainy or just overcast, both of which will affect the beauty of the coral for snorkeling and diving, plus currents are stronger at that time of year. You could also just get days of rain, although at end December chances are less. Cloudy weather is likely.
Phuket on the other hand, is in its best weather all year. The weather would be the decision-maker for me.

My vote is for Phuket but NOT the Amanpuri.
We planned a 6 nigbt stay and checked out after 3 nights. It was too snooty and the staff seemed to have been instructed to take care of the facility more so than than the guests.
We moved to the Baynan Tree and thought it was first rate. There is more to do within 30-50 miles of Phuket center than the beach areas of Koh Samui. As for snorkeling Phi Phi Don was very good and every bit as good as Koh Tao.We found the restaurant food better in Phuket.

I was just at both - I have reviews at http://www.bombasticlife.com
I would stay far away from Amanpuri. Four Seasons was far nicer. You might also want to check out Trisara Resort in Phuket.
