yep, we have our tickets and itinerary but we bought them 3 months ago....I locked them in a safe in a back closet that's very hard to get to...thought it might be quicker to ask here...
thanks for that....long, long, flight.
hopefully I'll be able to sleep when we get on the plane since we don't leave until 1:30 a.m.
I am usually so jacked up about the trip I can never sleep. I'm going to be asking my doc for a sleep aid. It'll be the first time so I hope it agrees with me.
I may have to try it ahead of time.

I use Ambien every time I travel overseas. I usually travel from the US to Europe, but flew to Japan last October. For me the flight wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting. I just pop my Ambien and slept over half the flight.
Definitely try before you fly though. Some people have negative side effects, and finding out about one on the plane is not the way to go.

If you opt to take a sleep aid, do try ahead of time. That doesn't guarantee that you won't have a bad reaction, but it does lessen the chances. There have been some pretty dramatic bad reactions to Ambien, sleep walking, sleep driving, etc, including people doing things they wouldn't otherwise do.

Ok, so that wasn't a hyposthetical question. If you want an exact answer then you would need to be more specific.
If you are departing LAX at 1:30AM then you probably will be on Korean Airlines flight 62 to Seoul. That's 12h 20m.
Connecting on to flight 651? Then you have an 11h 45m connection time before the 5h 35m flight to Bangkok.
I hope that is not your 29hrs 40min itinerary.

I missed the mention of Cathay Pacific, sorry. Flight 651 was the Korean Air connecting flight to BKK. The LAX departure arrives in the morning but apparently their first flight (651) to BKK is not until late in the afternoon. I understand now that you are not taking that flight.
I see that Cathay Pacific has a 1:45 AM departure from LAX (maybe it is at 1:30 AM on different dates).
If you were departing on Aug 20 at 1:45 AM, then depending on your connecting flight you would arrive at 10:35 AM, 3:55 PM, or 5:30 PM. Would be 18h 50m or 24h 10m or 25h 45m or thereabouts.
So, about 19 to 26 hours (an answer which is less exact, but more accurate, than the 15-19h that you heard elsewhere).
