Finalization of Hotels- Tokyo, Japan- Need Advice

I recently posted this same question under the JR Pass subtitle- so if you saw/replied to it there, please disregard.

I am posting under a more appropriate title now to hopefully catch the eye of others that can help.

I have a few hotels booked in the two locations in Japan that I am traveling to and really need help deciding between them. Pretty much, I need someone to make the decision for me... hah
I have never been to Japan before and therefore do not know much about locations, areas I want to be in, etc. Overall, I am looking for a luxurious hotel for my honeymoon that is centrally located- meaning we can easily access transportation and/or sights directly from the hotel, and the hotel is in a location where we can just venture out and find shops, restaurants, etc. (in case one of us wants to venture out alone while the other is relaxing).

In Tokyo I am stuck between Park Hyatt and Peninsula

In Kyoto I am stuck between Westin Miyako, Hotel Okura, and Hyatt Regency (more than other two)

Any/All advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all!!!

It's all a matter of taste but if it were me I would pick The Peninsula in Tokyo and the Hyatt in Kyoto. The Okura in Kyoto would rate a mention and just toss out the Westin right now

Aloha!

I actually just finished reading your trip report and have written down so many notes- because in addition to Japan my husband and I are doing China after our cruise. Thank you so much for that detailed report! Reason why Peninsula over Park Hyatt? (PH rate lower and includes breakfast so I am trying to make that one more appealing ...haha)

Peninsula has the location. Shops and restaurants right there. Subway and Yamanote line right there. Have you checked Peninsula's website for its' special rates as well as a Virtuoso agent?

I'm seeing the Hyatt at ¥64,000/night Park Deluxe with breakfast, and Peninsula ¥48,000/night Deluxe with breakfast on their websites for August 2 - 5. For the same money as the Hyatt you can get a deluxe corner room at the Peninsula, which has a really cool bathroom.

In one thread, the OP is concerned about how to save a few dollars by getting a train pass, and in this thread she is trying to figure out which of Tokyo's 2 most expensive hotels to stay at. For a trip that is supposed to begin in less than 2 weeks. All sounds weird to me.

I wonder if the OP will repay those who helped out by providing a report after the fact?

The Peninsula rooms are so much nicer and so is the property. The only thing I can think of that is better at the PH are the views.

Aloha!

The OP may be a "Lost in Translation" fan.
